RBC

The sustained commitment of RBC Financial, through sponsorships, fellowships and scholarships, has helped generations of students succeed.

Royal Bank of Canada has been a reliable fixture of Canadian life since 1864. The bank provides diversified financial services to 17 million clients across 36 countries and is a recognized leader in personal and commercial banking, wealth management, insurance, investment banking, and other services. RBC and the RBC Foundation has provided support to Canadians and their communities since 1891, with a particular emphasis on youth, arts and culture, the environment and public health.

RBC and the University of Toronto have had a strong relationship for decades. Many U of T graduates have worked at the bank over the years, with many attaining senior roles. The University is proud of this record of alumni achievement at one of Canada’s top corporations and grateful for its philanthropic contributions that are particularly impactful in supporting the University’s initiatives around innovation and entrepreneurship.

RBC has contributed more than $14 million to U of T across a wide range of faculties and fields of study, from public policy to commerce to architecture and the humanities. Notable contributions include their 1997 gift to establish an endowed chair in Applied Social Work Research in the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work; their 2007 contribution to the Martin Prosperity Institute at the Rotman School of Management; and their support of the Hazel McCallion Learning Centre at University of Toronto Mississauga where the RBC Financial Group Learning Commons is a key student hub. More recently, they made a $4-million commitment to support U of T Entrepreneurship’s new ONRamp facility, a 15,000-square-foot collaboration and co-working space catering to entrepreneurs and their startups.

RBC’s contributions to entrepreneurship, scholarship programs, research grants, diversity initiatives and more have enhanced the University’s educational offerings and helped make U of T the destination of choice for tomorrow’s leaders and innovators.
